We live in times when hope has become a difficult thing. Surrounding and prevailing circumstances wrestle with our ability to hope, if we embrace the power of hope, it will generate in us a force to overcome obstacles.

What then is hope?
Job 11:18 - And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

Hope can be defined as looking forward to a brighter future or an expectation in assurance that tomorrow will be better. The greatest form of hope is to look at Jesus.

Col 1:17 says ‘And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.’

Let me share with you what we should do with hope.

  1. NEVER SHIFT YOUR HOPE TO MAN

YOUR HOPE MUST ALWAYS BE IN HIM WHO CANNOT FAIL

Ps 39:7 - And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope [is] in thee.

Man can promise and fail; government have promised and did not deliver on their promises.

Num 23:19 - God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Let your hope be in God alone! I call Him the promise giver and the promise keeper. God is so faithful at keeping His promise.

  2. SPEAK TO YOURSELF REGULARLY IN HOPE

    Ps 42:5-11

5 - Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

I love the way the Psalmist speaks, always refreshing. Why are you cast down, O my soul? Different people have roles they play or can play in our lives, but there is no stronger role, than an individual coming to the place called REALITY where you say to yourself – THIS IS IT!

Speak to yourself regularly and consistently in hope, it shall be well, tomorrow will be better, God has a plan for me, I will not fail, help is on the way somehow!

  3. HOPE CONTINOUSLY

Hope is not a one moment; one day; one period thing, hope must be continuous.

Ps 71:14 - But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

Notice how the Psalmist expresses hope here, ‘I will hope continually; I will hope without restraint, I will not give up on hoping, I will continue to hope.

This is a lesson from the experience of the Psalmist – Say to yourself, I will hope continually!
